The women in my family grew up, quite literally, with needle in hand. We come from a long line of seamstresses and quilters. Both of my grandmothers quilted and my Mother made her own clothes from age 6 on. Mom also taught me to sew at an early age. There was never a more patient and understanding teacher than Mom! With Mom's excellent instruction and lots of 4-H sewing, I grew to love sewing.
In 1979, my fascination with quilting began with Georgia Bonesteel's first Lap Quilting series. Shortly after learning the basics from that show, my sister-in-law Sharon asked if I could teach classes in her store. I've been teaching - and in love with - quilting ever since.
When it comes to quilt patterns, my basic philosophy is that most quilters enjoy fairly simple but attractive designs with clear, precise directions featuring fast cutting and piecing, and all finishing techniques. Many of my quilt designs have appeared in Decorating & Craft Ideas Magazine, Crafting Traditions Magazine, and several of the Country Woman Christmas Books.
